Hernia into the Umbilical Cord

چکیده
On Aug. 24, 1896, I saw a child which had been born the day before. The child, a full time male, 51 cms. long, was well, and except at the navel, well formed. At the navel the abdominal wall was defective over an almost circular area of 6 cms. diameter, the space being occupied by a nearly hemispherical swelling covered by the expanded membranes of the umbilical cord. The swelling protruded about 2 cms. from the abdominal wall, and in the middle line, a little below the summit, the cord was continued and of

Umbilical Cord Hernia: Report of an Unusual Case
Congenital umbilical cord hernia is fairly common in infants and it is rarely associated with other anomalies. Sometimes, large umbilical cord hernia is confused with Small omphaloceles. We report an unusual case of umbilical cord hernia associated with patent vitello-intestinal duct (PVID), and Meckel's diverticulum underwent surgery and discharged with good general condition.
متن کاملDistinct Presentations of Hernia of Umbilical Cord
Hernia of umbilical cord is a well-known entity which presents with herniation of small bowel into the proximal part of umbilical cord. It has very good prognosis after surgical repair. Occasionally, it can have distinct presentations and varied malformations at the umbilicus which have bearing on the course of treatment and final outcome. Herein, we describe various presentations and malformat...

Cell therapy was proposed as a potential treatment intervention for liver cirrhosis recently due to the fact that the therapeutic protocol for primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC)-associated refractory umbilical hernia and hepatic hydrothorax is not well defined currently. We report herein the case of a 58-year-old woman who received routine treatments for PBC, which developed into an incarcerated h...
متن کاملHernia of Umbilical Cord: Report of Three Unusual Cases
Congenital hernia of umbilical cord is a less frequent entity in newborns and occasionally associated with other maladies. Herein, we report three unusual cases of hernia of umbilical cord. First case was associated with in-utero evisceration of entire small bowel through the presumably ruptured hernia of umbilical cord and other two cases had associated patent vitellointestinal duct (PVID). Al...
متن کاملAngiomyxoma: a rare tumor of the umbilical cord.
Tumors of the umbilical cord are rare anomalies and should be considered when using prenatal ultrasound for detection of cystic lesions. Differential diagnosis of umbilical cord tumors should comprise umbilical cord teratoma, hemangioma and angiomyxoma. It can also be an umbilical cord polyp, umbilical cord cyst, hernia into the cord and omphalocele, which are mostly isolated findings, except o...

his umbilical hernia. The least degree of error consists in the persistence of a little pouch of umbilical ccelom in the thickness of the abdominal wall, which is later expanded into an ordinary skin-covered umbilical hernia. The greatest degree of error consists in the larger part of the abdominal viscera remaining in the umbilical cord. It is with this latter condition that we have to deal in...
